scented bouquet

Fragrant bouquet for an office that works with the visually impaired--hyacinth, lavender, rosemary, and little leafed myrtle. This arrangement made up for the mountains of paperwork I slogged through today. I've left my camera at home for the past week so this photo was taken by my trusty little phone.

Monday Funday!

Today was a bit of insanity--three bridal consultations, one group of garden club ladies, multiple last minute orders, May day bouquets, and no time to catch my breath. Am thrilled to be doing a Halloween wedding--death callas, feathers, black magic roses, eryngium sprayed to look like mercury glass, and wilted greens. Also the fall wedding with persimmon, eggplant, and mustard as the color scheme. The above bouquet was one of my favorites from last year--a loose garden hand-tied with rosemary and eucalyptus. Simple and sweet.

sneak peek

Pictures from the photo shoot--my camera, not the professional photographers. . .I can't wait for the real pictures!

Back to work and wedding season craziness--in the month of May alone, we have 17 weddings. I have been tweeting for the studio and am now finding myself thinking in hashmark categories. #takemybreathaway (coral peonies) #2weeksnotice (last minute brides) #weloveourjob (weddings galore).

Coming Soon!!!

So, I don't have pictures yet but imagine purple and green artichokes, greenish lavender asparagus, ruffledy purple kale, pristine white ranunculus, and reddish purple tulips wrapped in a deep aubergine silk ribbon.
And papaya and blood oranges sliced in half, tangerine cuties, and hot pink roses.
And the most beautiful bride with mountain trees behind her.

I can't wait to see the pictures from the photo shoot this weekend!

Class Tonight

I had so much fun teaching "The Well Dressed Nest" tonight! I love this design concept and style. If I could be an animal, absolutely would be a bird!

springtime in the neighborhood (wisteria, azaleas, dogwoods galore)
springtime at the lake (and dinner and dancing)

the wedding of the year so far (90+double-stemmed raspberry-throated phalaenopsis orchids)
and the loss of 4 wisdom teeth (happy birthday month to me)

sunday sunniness

beauties from the woods this weekend.

new sunshine running song (thank you miss pickering!)

from Annie: "From the easily recognizable beauty of a colorful sunset, to beauty that is always there but sometimes goes unrecognized like birds in flight or sparkling dew on the grass on a summer morning, to the mysterious beauty of your amazing circulatory system, to the unknown beauty of flowers on the top of a mountain that no human eye will ever see -- we are surrounded by beauty constantly.

And, yet, all of the glorious, lovely things of nature somehow pale in comparison to the beauty of someone acting in such a beautiful way. Maybe it's because the magnificent mountain doesn't have a choice when it comes to being beautiful. It doesn't wake up in the morning and decide whether or not it will be beautiful."

pink picotee

Springtime fun bouquet made for the bridal show. I heart lycopodium.
And this one is just for spring fun--flowering branches from one of my runs this weekend.
Spring is here! Sundress Sundays here I come!
Favorite Quote of my Weekend Reading:". . .with large, dense gorgeous clusters of blush-cream petals, brushed rosy petals and pink picotee. The strong stemmed statuesque plants, standing 4-6' tall, will quickly cover a trellis with fragrant blooms." Burpee Seed Catalog

summer please?

I found these pictures in my files today--I can't wait for lush greenery and gardening. Happy Valentine's--65 hours of work in 6 days, hundreds of happy lovebirds, tired feet and fingers. Looking forward to my after Valentine's massage and designing in colors other than red, pink, and white!

Bridal Show Week!

Today's bouquets included a succulent and garden rose bouquet, a bouquet with cork bark as the armature, artichokes, mosses, fiddleheads, double tulips, ferns, luscious lisianthus, spray garden roses, wire, sisal, ribbon, lace. Eleven hours of making beautiful designs--I'm exhausted but still excited about what we've made and can't wait to see the brides' reactions on Sunday!

Colorado Bridal Bouquet

i heart ee cummings

when faces called flowers float out of the ground
and breathing is wishing and wishing is having-
but keeping is downward and doubting and never
-it's april(yes,april;my darling)it's spring!
yes the pretty birds frolic as spry as can fly
yes the little fish gambol as glad as can be
(yes the mountains are dancing together)

when every leaf opens without any sound
and wishing is having and having is giving-
but keeping is doting and nothing and nonsense
-alive;we're alive,dear:it's(kiss me now)spring!
now the pretty birds hover so she and so he
now the little fish quiver so you and so i
(now the mountains are dancing, the mountains)

when more than was lost has been found has been found
and having is giving and giving is living-
but keeping is darkness and winter and cringing
-it's spring(all our night becomes day)o,it's spring!
all the pretty birds dive to the heart of the sky
all the little fish climb through the mind of the sea
(all the mountains are dancing;are dancing)
e e cummings

so ready for spring
